About Us

Hannah Magness

After earning degrees in government and international relations, specializing in Middle East studies, I spent the first decade-plus of my professional life working in the nonprofit world. My work focussed on aiding refugees, families in poverty, and education-driven projects around the Middle East.

While I will always be passionate about this work, I shifted my focus in 2024 to writing.

Throughout my life, I’ve always considered myself a writer. You know, one of those avid journalers, long Instagram captioners, short stories on my laptop kind of people. However, it wasn't until this last year, after resigning from my position in the nonprofit world, that I graduated from oversharer to novelist.

My life path has made me a combination of compassionate and headstrong. And I’m using all that energy to write the best stories I can and help other writers on their journeys to do the same.

I currently reside with my husband in South Carolina. If I'm not writing, I'm probably up to some wild shit – like trying a new gluten-free recipe, getting lost in a book world, or watching TV with my partner.

You can find all my info and links over on my website.

Since I can remember, writing has been an important part of my world. I “created” my own “language” in my diary when I was in Kindergarten, and it didn’t take me long to realize that words are my currency.

I write short stories, poetry, essays, and am working on my first novel. I write about my experiences, relationships, the highs and lows of the human experience - but most importantly, I write about the ordinary moments we often take for granted.

Recently, I left a career in Communications to pursue not only the publishing of my first novel, but to enroll in copyediting school. I aspire to be both a writer and editor someday!

Books, both the ones I read and the ones I write, are an undying passion of mine, so feel free to send me a DM to chat about stories!

I currently live in Dallas-Fort Worth with my husband, child, and a dog named after two classic authors.
